Strength & Weakness

Domain: Professional Practices-

Strength:

Flexibility

1) I'm flexible in how I teach, which means I can change things based on what helps my students understand best. For example,  at the school, where everyone learns differently, being flexible is like adjusting my teaching style to ensure each student "gets it" about gardening and its importance.

Creativity

2) Integrating creative activities challenges students to think critically and develop problem-solving skills. Having these skills extends beyond the classroom and is valuable in real-life situations.

Weakness:

Facilitator:

1)Having inconsistency can lead to disruptions, a lack of focus among students, and challenges in sustaining a positive learning atmosphere.

Goal: I can start by communicating clear expectations, employing positive reinforcement, and addressing behavioral issues promptly to ensure a more consistently respectful and engaging classroom experience for all students.

Preparation:

2)I consistently come prepared for all activities, lessons, and demonstrations; I've recognized a weakness in my ability to adapt seamlessly during tasks. When faced with unexpected questions or challenges, deviating from the original plan is challenging.

Goal: I am actively working on developing a more flexible teaching approach. This involves anticipating potential deviations from the lesson plan, preparing alternative activities or examples, and fostering a mindset that sees unexpected questions as opportunities for enriched learning.

Domain: Professional Commuincation

Strength:

Oral Communication:

1)I can maintain a professional, respectful, and culturally sensitive approach. When delivering information or facilitating discussions, I consistently ensure that my communication is clear, fostering a comprehensive understanding among the audience.

Written Communication:

2)My strength in online communication lies in its strategic organization, grammatical accuracy, and adaptability to context. This proficiency contributes to effective and impactful communication in the digital realm, fostering clarity and understanding among diverse online audiences.
Weakness:

Response to Commuincation:

1)My communication style is the occasional inconsistency in follow-up. Or just text/email them back quickly.

Goals: This involves setting dedicated time slots for responding to messages, utilizing productivity tools to track and prioritize communication tasks, and developing strategies to ensure that essential follow-ups are not overlooked.

Domain: Professional Attributes

Strength:

Appearance

1) By consistently professionally presenting yourself, you set a positive example for students. They are likely to mimic the standards you set, fostering a respectful and professional atmosphere in the classroom.

Demeanor

2) Being personable and respectful helps build trust and positive relationships with all stakeholders, including students, parents, teachers, and community members. Trust is fundamental for effective collaboration and communication

Weakness:

Work Ethic

1)I recognize that while I am diligent in completing activities, lessons, and demonstrations, there are instances where my time management could be more consistent. I occasionally need help meeting deadlines or efficiently allocating time for various tasks.

Goals:

Implement a time-blocking method to allocate specific time slots for different daily tasks. This structured approach can help maintain focus and prevent overruns on particular activities.

Attendance

2)While I am generally consistent, reliable, and punctual in adhering to attendance guidelines set by the course, department, and/or college, there is a weakness in my ability to adapt to unforeseen circumstances. Instances such as sudden illness or unexpected personal emergencies may impact my attendance and disrupt the planned schedule.
Goals:
Proactive Planning: Develop a contingency plan for potential disruptions, identifying key responsibilities and tasks that can be adjusted or delegated in the event of unforeseen circumstances.

Domain: Development as a Professional

Strength:

Initiative

1)Demonstrates a consistent readiness and commendable ability to take initiative within the learning environment. Proactively engages in the planning, executing, and enhancing activities, lessons, and demonstrations.

Open-Mindedness
2) Consistently demonstrates an open-minded approach by embracing and utilizing constructive feedback from university faculty, supervisors, and cooperating teachers. Recognizes the value of diverse perspectives in professional development and actively seeks opportunities for improvement.

Weakness:

Adaptability

1)In some instances, I have experienced challenges in fully adapting to various aspects of the learning environment. This includes working with diverse student populations, adjusting to evolving responsibilities, incorporating new materials, and adapting to changing schedules.

Goals:
I can attend "Student Engagement Training" workshops or training sessions focused on effective strategies for engaging with diverse student populations. Learn techniques to address varying learning styles and preferences.

Reflective Practitioner

2)At times, my reflective practices need to be more consistent in setting goals, examining and critically reflecting on my professional practices, and applying course content. While I acknowledge the importance of self-reflection, there are instances where this process is not systematically integrated into my teaching routine.

Goals:
Commit to regular journaling to document daily experiences, challenges, and successes in the classroom. This practice provides a foundation for reflective analysis and goal setting.

In what areas of the Policy do you need to set goals for yourself if involved in future transdisciplinary collaboratives?

In pursuing excellence in professional practices, I have set two overarching goals to enhance my transdisciplinary teaching strategies. First, I am committed to developing and implementing innovative teaching methods, seamlessly integrating content and skills from various disciplines. This involves crafting lessons beyond traditional subject boundaries, fostering a cohesive and interconnected understanding of concepts. To achieve this, I recognize the importance of collaboration and intend to work closely with my colleagues to create interdisciplinary lesson plans. Additionally, my second goal centers on the integration of inquiry-based learning approaches. I aspire to create an environment encouraging students to explore meaningful connections between different subjects. This involves implementing projects and activities that transcend disciplinary boundaries and cultivate critical thinking and problem-solving skills. By incorporating inquiry-based learning into my teaching practices, I aim to empower students with the tools to navigate complex problems and develop a deeper appreciation for the interconnected nature of knowledge. These goals reflect my dedication to providing a dynamic and enriching educational experience beyond the confines of traditional subjects.
